Seeds Will Remain

I am not a farmer

You can take away

From the land

That he has stood on

Since the first day

I am just a farmer

Who has a fear of running

From this farm that I will tend

Until the very last sunset

You can burn the grass but not the seeds

Seeds will remain

Until washed away by the red rain

But they won’t disappear

They will just appear somewhere else

And elsewhere there will be grass again

So you can take away the grass

But in the end, the grass will win

You can get rid of this land

But you cannot get rid of me

My spirit lasts eternally

In this land upon which I stand

So I am not just a farmer

I am a spirit just like you

Now, can you see the other side of the blue?

Or do you still want to take away all of my greens?

Inspired by Bill Frisell's "I Am Not a Farmer" from the album Disfarmer
